An indoor 'Concert in the Dark' experience featuring the Strings Attached Piano Trio, with music inspired by the Beatles and Beethoven, set against a sunset view of Ladybird Lake.
Will Taylor and Strings Attached are playing at The Rebekah Apartments on Wednesday, July 22, as part of the Concerts in the Dark Austin series. It's an indoor 'Concert in the Dark' experience held in the 16th-floor party room, which looks out over Ladybird Lake just as the sun is setting. The music draws on the songs of the Beatles and Beethoven alongside inspired originals, and the performance is rounded out with the occasional poem, quote, or short guided meditation.
Will Taylor is an Austin music icon and two-time Austin Music Award winner who's been a professional violinist for over 20 years. He's jammed with Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, Gary Clark Jr., and Shawn Colvin, and in 2006 he produced a concert of the Beatles' White Album that drew more than 1,600 people. For over 35 years, thousands have stepped into his imaginative world, with performances that blur boundaries and reveal music in unexpected ways.
The show is hosted by Strings Attached, which includes Austin cellist Tony Rogers, who performs more than 300 times a year, and keyboardist Dave Madden, a Berklee College of Music alum and former TED Talks performer. Together with Taylor, they're joined by guitar and percussion for a full piano trio sound.
