An indoor Concert in the Dark experience with string arrangements of the Beatles and Beethoven by Will Taylor and Strings Attached, featuring poems and guided meditations.
Will Taylor and Strings Attached are bringing Concert in the Dark: Beatles, Beethoven & Beyond to the Episcopal Church of the Cross on Friday, September 25. It's an indoor show, and as the title suggests, the lights go down for the performance.
Taylor is an award-winning Austin violinist, and he's leading his group, Strings Attached, through a set of string arrangements of the Beatles and Beethoven, along with some inspired originals. The two halves of the program pull from opposite ends of the tradition—the pop songwriting of the Beatles and the classical compositions of Beethoven—and the originals sit somewhere in between.
They describe the evening as more than just a concert, calling it a journey from daylight to twilight. The music is set inside the church and punctuated by the occasional poem, quote, and short guided meditation, so it's a bit more of a curated experience than a standard set of songs. The darkness is part of that, too—it's meant to shift the focus from the stage to the sound.
