Community Health Fair

The Asian American Resource Center (AARC) is hosting its annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, July 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's a free event, put on in partnership with Austin Public Health (APH) and the Austin Asian Community Health Initiative (AACHI), and it brings a range of health services directly to the community. If you've been putting off a checkup or just want to get a few things sorted in one go, this is a good place to do it.

On the floor, you'll find free health resources, screenings, and immunizations. The fair puts a particular focus on Arabic, Burmese, Nepali, Pashto, Dari, Korean, and Vietnamese speaking communities, and interpretation services are available in multiple languages, so you can get your questions answered in the language you're most comfortable with. It's the kind of setup where you can walk in, get a screening, and pick up some resources without having to navigate a dozen different appointments.

To get some context on who's behind it, the AARC is part of the City of Austin's Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment, and it's dedicated to celebrating the diverse cultural heritage and history of Asian American Pacific Islanders. The health fair is one of their annual initiatives, and it's a joint effort with APH and AACHI. Beyond the health side of things, the center stays active throughout the year with the Community Art Exhibit Program, the 'Being and Belonging' educational pop-up series, and the Hyphenated Book Club, which runs year-round.

It all happens at the Asian American Resource Center in Austin on Saturday, July 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Admission is free.
