A monthly drop-in session where crafting materials are provided for a relaxed hour and a half of collage making; attendees can bring a friend or fly solo.
Collage Corner is back at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch on Wednesday, September 9, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a monthly drop-in session, so you don't need to commit to a full course—you just show up when you feel like making something.
The whole point is a chill hour and a half of collage making. They provide the crafting materials, though you're welcome to bring your own if you have a specific stash you're working through. The invitation is open: bring a friend, make a friend, or fly solo. It's as much about the company as it is about the cutting and pasting.
The Milwood Branch itself is worth a mention if you've never been. It opened on July 26, 1997, after years of advocacy by neighborhood organizations and the 1992 bond election that approved the funds. The 8,266-square-foot facility sits on more than seven acres of wooded land in Council District 7. Inside, you'll find Lori Norwood's sculpture Learning to Fly, part of the Austin Art in Public Places program.
