The City-Wide Vintage Sale is back at the Palmer Events Center this weekend, Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. It's Austin's largest vintage event, and it's a big one for anyone who spends their weekends digging through racks of old clothes and hunting for accessories that don't look like they came from a big-box store.
There's a fair bit of history behind it, too. The sale has been running since 1977, though it started out under a different name: the City-Wide Garage Sale. It's grown from those early days into the city's biggest vintage gathering, and these days the organizers bring in unique vendors to fill the floor at the Palmer Events Center. That's the core of the whole thing—a wide variety of sellers under one roof, so you can find a lot of different eras and styles in a single trip rather than bouncing between shops across town.

If you're planning to go, keep in mind that the two days have different hours. On Saturday, August 15, it runs from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, which gives you a full day to work through the racks. Sunday, August 16, is a shorter window, from 11 AM to 5 PM. If you're the kind of person who likes to get in early and see everything before the best pieces are gone, Saturday morning is your best bet. If you'd rather sleep in and take your time, Sunday works just as well. Both days are at the Palmer Events Center in downtown Austin.
