Saxophonist Chris Potter Trio, featuring Matt Brewer and Kendrick Scott, performs at the ATX Jazz Fest at the Moody Amphitheater.
Chris Potter brings his trio to the Moody Amphitheater on Sunday, April 4, as part of the ATX Jazz Fest. He's playing with bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Kendrick Scott, so it's a saxophone-led trio. The festival runs from April 2 to 4, and Potter's set falls on the final day.
The fest is put on by ATX Chamber Music and Jazz, and they've billed it as the most concentrated gathering of jazz talent ever assembled in Texas, bringing together Grammy winners, MacArthur Fellows, and NEA Jazz Masters. It kicks off Friday night with an exclusive 300-seat concert at Assembly Hall, a converted East Austin venue that keeps things intimate and close-range. Saturday and Sunday move to the main stage at the Moody Amphitheater in Waterloo Park, which is where the Potter trio will be. VIP late-night sessions return to Assembly Hall for jam sessions and small-group sets.
If you're looking at the higher-end options, a Gold pass adds premium seating, a VIP standing pit, a hospitality tent, a private entrance with complimentary valet, and post-set artist meet-and-greets. Weekend passes start at $230 for Standard, $625 for Gold, and $1,305 for Platinum.
