Charles Thibodeaux & the Austin Cajun Aces are playing Evangeline Cafe on Monday, August 24, and they'll be back a week later on Monday, August 31. Both sets start at 7 PM.
If you're not familiar with the spot, Evangeline Cafe is over in South Austin at 8106 Brodie Ln. It specializes in traditional dishes from Southern Louisiana and keeps live music on the bill most nights during dinner, so this is right in its wheelhouse. The cafe took home Best of Austin awards for Cajun cuisine in 2024 and 2023 and was named a Restaurant Poll and First Plates winner, so you can come for the music and stay for the food.
These appearances follow Austin's Mardi Gras celebrations, which the local scene frames as a spirited blend of New Orleans ties and Texas energy, with authentic Cajun cooking and live zydeco at the heart of it. Thibodeaux and his band fit right into that—Cajun music played in a room that does the food to match.
