A celebration of the Austin Public Library's 100th anniversary, featuring the unveiling of the remodeled historic dollhouse.
The Austin Public Library is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a Centennial Party at Central on Saturday, October 17, at the Austin Central Library. It's a big milestone for the system, and the party is the way they're marking a century of being a library in the city.
The celebration is the culmination of The Crafty Adult: APL Dollhouse Remodel, a program that's been running up to this point. Throughout the project, adults were invited to help renovate the exterior, the interior, and the furniture of the library's historic and beloved dollhouse. It's a piece that was once housed at Faulk Central Library, and the remodel happened under the lead of Jennifer Connor. The work was done with paint, glue, and fabric—the kind of hands-on, slow-paced crafting that takes a while to come together.
