A storytime session to celebrate the centenary of Winnie-the-Pooh at BookPeople.
BookPeople is hosting a storytime to celebrate 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh on Wednesday, October 21, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. It's a short, half-hour session, so it's the kind of thing you can swing on a weekday morning without it taking over your whole day.
If you've spent any time around the Hundred Acre Wood, you know the drill: Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and the rest of the gang. The session is built around those stories, read aloud in the middle of one of Austin's most well-known bookstores. It's a storytime, so it's geared toward kids and families, though anyone who grew up with the bear is welcome to stop in.
Since it's a centennial celebration, the focus is on the character himself. Winnie-the-Pooh first appeared in A.A. Milne's When We Dream of the Hundred Acre Wood in 1926, and this session marks a century of the bear and his friends. It's a simple way to mark the milestone—reading the stories in a room full of books.
