Casii Stephan plays the Holiday Inn on Thursday, September 24, as an official showcase at the South West Folk Alliance Conference. It's a single-bill set, so she's the only one on the program.
Stephan is a singer-songwriter whose sound sits somewhere between pop, soul and rock, rooted in storytelling. She grew up in Minnesota and later based herself in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she's spent the last decade working within the folk community. She describes herself as having grown up shy and afraid of her voice until she started writing songs on the family piano at 16; she moved to Tulsa in 2014 and has been embraced by the folk scene there ever since.
Her emotive voice has drawn comparisons to Florence Welch and Fiona Apple, and NPR likened her writing style to Carole King. She won Best AAA/Alternative Song for "California Gold" at the International Acoustic Music Awards, was a Kerrville Folk Fest "New Folk Finalist," and has played official SXSW and Folk Alliance showcases, with profiles in Billboard, NPR, SPIN and American Songwriter.

Her EP Relationship Status, produced by Ben Tanner of Alabama Shakes and St. Paul and the Broken Bones, came out in September 2024 on Shamus Records. Her debut album, Let Her Have Her Flowers, is due in early 2027, so this showcase falls right in the middle of the two releases. The show is at the Holiday Inn, 6000 Middle Fiskville Rd, Austin, TX 78752, starting at 7 PM.
