Captain Matt & The Boatcrew

Captain Matt & The Boatcrew bring their Boatcrew Paradise Tour to Crazy Conchaz on Rainey Street this Thursday, September 24. They're a Gulf Coast country band from Freeport, Texas, and this is one of their Austin stops on the tour.

Their sound blends Trop Rock, Texas Country, and blues into something they describe as rooted in waterfront living, storytelling, and real-life experience. It's a coastal feel that fits the name, and the whole project is built around that Gulf Coast connection. The live show scales from intimate acoustic sets to full-band performances, and for this date, Matt is joined by The Boatcrew Band.

There's a bit of a story behind how this all came back together. Captain Matt stepped away from music for nearly 20 years, and his return started with a casual TikTok livestream that reignited his career. From there, he put out a solo album that reached #15 on the iTunes Country Charts and built the #BOATCREW Family, a global community of more than 25,000 supporters. The Austin show is part of the Boatcrew Paradise Tour, the same run that's taking them across the road.

Back home, the band looks after #BOATCREW Beach, a stretch of coastline they've officially adopted through the Texas General Land Office. They use it for community cleanups, live performances, and projects like the music video Sand On Our Boots. It's a good way to get a sense of where the music comes from—the Gulf Coast is as much a part of the act as the songs themselves.
