A biennial quilt show featuring over 300 quilts, vendor booths, demonstrations, a silent auction, and a member-made raffle quilt.
The Capital of Texas QuiltFest is back at the Palmer Events Center from Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23. It's a biennial show run by the Austin Area Quilt Guild, a 501(c)3 non-profit, and the money it raises goes toward the guild's mission and its ongoing activities. If you're not a quilter yourself, it's still a good place to spend a few hours—there's a lot to look at, and you don't need to know a stitch to appreciate it.
More than 300 quilts go on display over the weekend. Entries can be submitted for judging or simply for display, so you'll see a mix of competitive work and pieces shown for the sake of showing. Beyond the main exhibition, the weekend includes a member-made raffle quilt, more than 30 vendors, a special exhibit, and demonstrations. There's also a boutique and a silent auction, so it's as much a market as it is a gallery.

If you want to see the winners, the Opening Night and Awards Ceremony is on Thursday, August 20, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free for that night. The main show runs Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM. Parking is in the Events Center Garage for $12, credit card only. The venue is at 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704.
