If you're not familiar with them, The Head and the Heart are a band from Seattle, Washington, who formed in 2009 after meeting at local open mic nights. They released their self-titled debut album in 2010 on Sub Pop Records and spent the following years touring as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Decemberists. In 2013 they put out Let's Be Still, and in 2019 they released Living Mirage, a four-album project. This current run is billed as The Head and the Heart: 15th Anniversary Tour, which marks fifteen years since they first started playing together.
Their sound is built around a blend of folk, country, and pop, with a focus on layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. Those harmonies are a good way to describe what they do live: the voices stack on top of each other, and the songwriting stays front and center. It's a style that sits comfortably across a few genres without leaning too hard into any one of them.
