Bradfish brings their Sublime tribute to Hole in the Wall on Friday, July 24, with Another Scorcher opening as a Weezer tribute. It's a double bill of two tributes to 90s staples, so you get a full night of familiar songs rather than a single act. Bradfish takes the headlining slot, and Another Scorcher handles the opening set.
Both bands are tributes, so the night is built around the catalogs of Sublime and Weezer. If you've spent years with those records, you know the territory: the laid-back, reggae-tinged sound of the Long Beach outfit and the distorted, power-pop hooks of the California four-piece. The two acts share the bill, and the venue presents the show.
Hole in the Wall is a historic spot on the UT campus that opened in 1974. It started as a folkie hangout and a favorite stage for Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, and Blaze Foley, and later became a breeding ground for punk, cosmic country, and alternative, launching the careers of Timbuk3, Fastball, Spoon, and Shakey Graves. It's still a two-stage dive with a collective capacity of a couple hundred and live music every night; it briefly shuttered in 2002 and came dangerously close to being priced out in 2015. The show is for ages 21 and up.
