The Brad Mehldau Trio performs at the Moody Amphitheater as part of the ATX Jazz Fest.
Brad Mehldau is playing the Moody Amphitheater on Sunday, April 4, 2027, as part of the ATX Jazz Fest. He'll be performing with his trio, featuring bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Marcus Gilmore.
The festival is put on by ATX Chamber Music and Jazz, and they're billing it as the most concentrated gathering of jazz talent ever assembled in Texas, bringing together Grammy winners, MacArthur Fellows, and NEA Jazz Masters. It runs across three days: Friday night opens with an exclusive 300-seat concert at Assembly Hall, a converted East Austin venue that offers intimate, close-range listening, while Saturday and Sunday move to the main stage at the Moody Amphitheater. There's also a Saturday Late Night show back at Assembly Hall, so the weekend spans two venues across the city.
Mehldau's set falls on the Sunday at the Moody, which is the second of the two main-stage days. If you're planning to catch more than just his show, the festival's structure means you can move between the larger outdoor stage and the smaller room at Assembly Hall. The trio format—piano, bass, and drums—is the classic jazz setup, and with Grenadier and Gilmore on the other two chairs, it's the group Mehldau has been working with.

Tickets are sold as passes rather than single shows for now. A Standard Pass starts at $230 and covers two days at the Moody Amphitheater. A Gold Pass starts at $625 and covers both days with VIP hospitality. The Platinum Pass starts at $1,305 and includes both days plus two Platinum-only nights at Assembly Hall. Single-day passes go on sale in December 2026, so if you only want to see Mehldau and nothing else, that'll be your best bet.
