Concert featuring Austin singer-songwriter Bob Schneider and guitarist Mitch Watkins at The 04 Center.
Bob Schneider and Mitch Watkins play The 04 Center on Friday, August 14, with doors opening at 7 PM and the show starting at 8 PM. It's a double bill that brings together two musicians who've spent a lot of time in different corners of the Austin scene.
Schneider is a singer-songwriter who's been a fixture here for years. He was the frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, and he describes his sound as 'FRUNK'—a mix of folk, rock, rap, funk, bluegrass, reggae, and country. He's won more than 59 Austin Music Awards, making him the most decorated artist in the city's music history. That run followed his major-label debut, Lonelyland, on Universal Records; he later started his own label, Shockorama Records. He's performed twice on Austin City Limits, holds a 20-year residency at The Saxon Pub, and plays over a hundred shows a year.
Watkins comes from a different starting point. He picked up the guitar at 13 and has spent the years since exploring stylistic pathways across the globe. Jazz Times called him 'a man for all musical seasons.'
