Live music night featuring Paper Sister, Paul Val, and Lynn at the iconic Guero's Taco Bar.
Paper Sister, Paul Val, and Lynn are playing Guero's Taco Bar on Thursday, September 3, as part of a BMI Plug and Play showcase. It's a three-act bill that brings together local names and a visitor from out of town: Paper Sister and Paul Val both call Austin home, while Lynn is coming in from Birmingham, Alabama. The music runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, so it's an early-evening set that wraps up well before the night really gets going.
If you're not familiar with the spot, Guero's is at 1412 South Congress Ave. It opened in 1986 when Rob and Lippincott moved their small taqueria from East Oltorf into the old Central Feed and Seed building, which had closed in 1993. Their daughters, Lyle and Bette Lippincott, run it now as second-generation owners. The bar still does hand-shaken margaritas the original way, with fresh-squeezed lime juice, and the Oak Garden hosts live music Wednesday through Sunday.

The menu blends authentic interior Mexican food with a bit of Tex-Mex—handmade corn tortillas and mole alongside tacos al pastor. The cover features Adelita, a tribute to the women of the Mexican Revolution. With the music happening in the garden, you can grab a drink and some food and listen from a table. The show runs from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, September 3, at 1412 South Congress Ave.
