Blanton All Day series hosting tango and two-step dance lessons at The Blanton Museum of Art, with live music and food.
The Blanton Museum of Art is hosting Blanton All Day: The Two-Step (+ Tango!) on Saturday, August 8, from 10 AM to 8 PM. It's the final installment of the Blanton All Day Summer Dance series, a program the museum has put together for anyone who might claim to have two left feet. The day is built around two-stepping lessons led by Double or Nothing Two-Step, with live music provided by the Sentimental Family Band.
Between the lessons, you can take a break from the dance floor to grab Yapa Empanadas or wander through the museum's galleries. The whole thing is framed by a Kurt Vonnegut quote that calls humans a bunch of "dancing animals," which sets the tone for the day: it's more about getting moving than about being any good at it. B.Y.O.P. (bring your own picnic) is encouraged, so you can pack a lunch and hang out between the dancing and the art. The Austin Chronicle is the media sponsor.
