Bill Kirchen plays The Continental Club on Saturday, July 25. He's a Grammy-nominated guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and Guitar Player magazine has called him a "Titan of the Telecaster."
Kirchen first made a name for himself as a founding father of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, whose "Hot Rod Lincoln" hit the Top Ten in 1972. He's one of the few musicians who can play the song's trademark licks. Since then, he's released more than a dozen albums under his own name and has played live or on record with a who's who of Americana and roots rock 'n' roll: Gene Vincent, Link Wray, Bo Diddley, Hazel Dickens, Doug Sahm, Hoyt Axton, Emmylou Harris, Maria Muldaur, Dan Hicks, Nick Lowe, and Elvis Costello. Nick Lowe described him as "a devastating culmination of the elegant and funky — a really sensational musician, with enormous depth."

His style covers a lot of ground, ranging from rock 'n' roll and blues to bluegrass, Texas Western swing and California honky-tonk. The Continental Club on South Congress is one of Austin's most iconic venues, with nightly live music. Kirchen takes the stage on Saturday, July 25, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, with tickets $8 at the door.
