Art Spark Texas presents a live performance and conversation with local composer and musician Joe Jaxson, part of their Beyond Art Showcase series.
Joe Jaxson is the featured artist at The Rosette on Thursday, September 17, for a live performance and conversation presented by Art Spark Texas. It's the third quarterly event in their Beyond Art Showcase series, which spotlights artists with disabilities under the banner "celebrating creativity beyond boundaries."
Jaxson is a local composer and musician who studied at James Madison University and is now finishing his doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin. His work reaches across band, orchestra, and chamber settings, and he's had several premieres in recent years: Fantasia with the United States Heritage of America Band and Born in the Iron Grip with the Richmond Symphony. In December 2025, his piece Through the Bay won the American Prize in Composition.
The evening pairs his live performance with a community conversation, and the whole thing is set up as a supportive and welcoming environment. Live captioning is provided, so the conversation part is accessible to everyone in the room. It's a good chance to hear a local composer talk through his work and then hear it performed.
