
House concert featuring singer-songwriter BettySoo at the intimate Cantina Sound venue.
BettySoo plays Cantina Sound on Sunday, August 16, at 3 PM. It's a house concert, part of the series Cantina Sound & Video runs out of their workshop, halfway between Dripping Springs and Johnson City and a few miles east of Pedernales Falls State Park. She's played this room before, back on August 20, 2023.
BettySoo is a Texas-born and raised singer-songwriter now based in Austin. She's toured the US with James McMurtry and Chris Smither, and previously with Alejandro Escovedo, and was part of the Americana/Pop supergroup Nobody's Girl. Her first solo CD came out in 2007 as Little Tiny Secrets, followed by Heat Sin Water Skin, When We're Gone, and the demos disc Insomnia Waking Dream. She won the Kerrville 2008 Grassy Hill New Folk Award and was named Songwriter of the Year at Big Top Chautauqua. A reviewer once compared her clear, evocative voice and poignant lyrics to Patty Griffin and Joni Mitchell.

The venue is an intimate, air-conditioned house concert series run by Cantina Sound & Video in a workshop that has hosted 45 shows. It's got a 16' x 10' stage, full sound and lighting, six fixed-camera video setups, and room for up to 40 people. The show starts at 3 PM, and there's a minimum donation of $30 per person at the door, all of which goes directly to the artist. Reservations are open.
