Concert by Austin-based artist Beth Lee, blending roots, indie and rock 'n' roll influences.
Beth Lee plays Hole in the Wall on Saturday, September 26, at 5 PM. She's an Austin artist who has been playing her blend of roots music, indie and rock 'n' roll since 2008, and this is a solo bill.
Her sound pulls from Americana, fifties R&B and nineties alternative, and she describes it as sitting somewhere between Lucinda Williams and Liz Phair. If you're familiar with either of those names, you've got a good handle on where she's coming from: the rootsy, songwriting focus of Williams meeting the indie-rock edge of Phair. It's a mix that's been evolving since she started out, and it's what she'll be bringing to the stage.
Her album Waiting on You Tonight was produced by Chuck Prophet and featured drummer Vicente Rodriguez, and it picked up praise from Glide Magazine, Americana Highways and No Depression, with the latter calling it "one of 2021's early benchmarks for Americana album of the year." Her follow-up with Rodriguez, Hardly Matters, was slated for release on October 25.

Between the two records, you can trace the arc she's been on: the roots-leaning Americana of Waiting on You Tonight and the newer material on Hardly Matters. The show will be at Hole in the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe St, starting at 5 PM.
