Exhibition with sculpture, painting and an immersive installation, with a community mask wall.
Bolm Arts opens Behind the Mask on Friday, October 9, with a reception from 7 PM to 10 PM. The exhibition stays on display through October 31, so if you can't make the opening, you've still got a few weeks to catch it.
Curated by Nicole Josephine Kline, Zac Farry, and Ash Oreline Carter, the show brings together sculpture, painting, and an immersive installation, all from the curators themselves. The work centers on the faces we wear, the selves we hide, and the permission a mask gives us to step outside ourselves—the kind of thing that's easy to spend a while sitting with.
Alongside their work, there's a community mask wall that grows over the course of the show, made by neighbors, students, and artists of all levels. It's a collective piece that changes as more people add to it, so it'll look different on the 20th than it did on the 9th.
