Beat Root Revival play the Saxon Pub on Friday, October 9, at 8 PM. They're a multi-instrumentalist roots duo who blend folk, blues, country and rock n roll into a foot-stomping, melodic sound, fronted by the harmonic vocals of Andrea Magee and Ben Jones.
They perform stripped back, with just a guitar, a bodhran — a traditional Irish drum — and their harmonies. The duo originally came from England and Ireland, moved to the United States several years ago and made Austin their adopted home, where they gig regularly while writing prolifically. Their following has grown steadily: their CD sales have reportedly outpaced any support act at their label in years.
They've also recorded three new songs with legendary producer Paul Leary, who's worked with Sublime, Meat Puppets and Butthole Surfers. Among those is a rendition of Thunderclap Newman's "Something In The Air."
