The Austin Symphony Orchestra performs the soundtrack from the 1989 film 'Batman' live while the movie is projected on the big screen, part of the Butler Pops Series.
The Austin Symphony Orchestra is bringing Batman to the Long Center's Dell Hall on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, 2026. It's a live-to-picture screening: the 1989 film Batman plays on the big screen while the full orchestra performs the soundtrack right there in the room. Conductor Peter Bay leads the ensemble, so the music isn't just a recording playing over the movieβit's happening live in front of you.
If you're not intimately familiar with the 1989 movie, it's the Tim Burton version, rated PG-13 and running about two hours. The whole thing is part of the orchestra's Butler Pops Series at the Long Center, which is their series of more accessible, pop-culture-leaning programs. The orchestra is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite DC superhero, so if you've got a cape or a mask in the back of your closet, this is a good time to dust it off.

Both shows start at 7:30 PM. The venue is the Long Center's Dell Hall, 701 W. Riverside Dr., and they've reminded patrons that it's an indoor event and everyone needs a ticket. Pit seats were listed at $79 and are currently sold out, so you'll want to check the remaining sections for what's left.
