Adult ballet workshop for beginner and intermediate dancers focusing on turning techniques, running from July 29 to August 26.
Ballet Austin is running a Pirouettes and Turns Workshop at Ballet Austin's Butler Center for Dance & Fitness this summer, and it's built for adult dancers. It's not a one-off class, either—it runs over several weeks, starting Wednesday, July 29, and going through Wednesday, August 26. Each session is 30 minutes long, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, so it's a short, focused window rather than a full morning in the studio.
The workshop is aimed at beginner and intermediate dancers, and the whole thing centers on turning techniques. If you've been working on your pirouettes and they're not quite landing where you want them, or if you're just starting to get comfortable with the basics and want to build some real stability, this is exactly that kind of thing. It's about the mechanics of the turn—the prep, the spot, the balance—rather than just throwing yourself into it and hoping for the best.
Because it's a multi-week series, you get to come back to the same movements and refine them over time, which is usually how turning actually sticks. You'll be working through the same material across several sessions, so you can feel the difference between the first week and the last. It's a good way to build some muscle memory without the pressure of a full-length class.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

One thing to keep in mind: there's no class on August 19, so you'll have a week off in the middle of the run. The cost is $115 for the series, and it all happens at the Butler Center in Austin.
