A 90-minute paranormal tour of the historic Chateau Bellevue mansion, featuring ghost investigation equipment and evidence, with guides exploring the haunted Bremond Block.
Austin Ghost Tours is taking people inside Chateau Bellevue on October 10, and they're keeping the doors open for a good stretch of the month. The mansion is at 708 San Antonio St, and the tours run October 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30, all starting at 8 PM. October 23 adds an 8:30 PM slot, and October 24 is the busiest night, with tours at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM.
If you've lived here a while, you've probably seen Chateau Bellevue from the street. It's a limestone fortress that rarely opens to the public, and it's widely known as one of the most haunted locations in Austin. The house sits on a hill that indigenous people long revered as a place of worship, and it anchors the Bremond Block—the city's only neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places and its last remaining stretch of Victorian-era mansions. The tour takes you inside the house itself, so you're not just looking at it from the sidewalk.
Once you're in, the guides bring out paranormal investigation equipment and show what they present as real ghost evidence. The experience doesn't stop at the front door, either; the walk also follows the Bremond Block, lined with old oaks and its own share of ghost stories. The whole thing runs for 90 minutes, rain or shine, and it's billed as family friendly. If you're bringing a larger crowd, private tours are available for groups of 15 or more.
