Austin Sketch Fest Presents: Andrew Dismukes

Andrew Dismukes is headlining ColdTowne Theater on August 22, closing out Austin Sketch Fest. It's a stand-up set from a guy who's spent the last few years on Saturday Night Live, and for anyone who's followed his run, there's a bit of a homecoming story here: he started doing stand-up in Austin while studying at the University of Texas, where he earned a B.S. in radio, television and film.

His path to SNL wasn't a straight line. He joined the show as a staff writer in Season 43 before eventually moving in front of the camera as a cast member, and he's now back for his third season in that role. This show is a return to the stand-up that started here.

The night is the finale of Austin Sketch Fest, a two-weekend festival produced, booked and organized by ColdTowne Theater, now in its 17th year. ColdTowne itself has been a fixture of the city's comedy scene for a while, a room that stages improv, sketch and stand-up and has picked up Best of Austin Awards including Readers Poll Best Comedy/Improv Troupe and Best Improv Group. The festival has brought in other big names over the years, including Tim Robinson, Amber Ruffin, Ego Nwodim, Business Casual, Meg Stalter and Paul F. Tompkins.

Tickets are $35, and the show runs from 9 PM to 10:30 PM on August 22 at ColdTowne Theater, 1700 E. Second.
