Contemporary country concert by Auburn McCormick at Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown.
Auburn McCormick plays Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown on Thursday, October 1, starting at 7 PM. She's a Mississippi-native independent country artist who's built a following around honest lyrics and a stage presence that holds its own.
She taught herself guitar and wrote her first song at 15, drawing from Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Carly Pearce, and Kelsea Ballerini. From there she moved into commercial music studies at Trevecca University in Nashville, and the 2024 releases — "Overdramatic," "Come Down," and "Ghost of You" — sit right in that contemporary country wheelhouse. If you're familiar with those names, you've got a good sense of where she's coming from.
There's a personal side to her music that doesn't come from the songwriting alone. At 12, she survived a severe accident that left her in a coma and resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury, a hardship she now channels into her songs and into teaching children with special needs. It's the kind of background that gives the lyrics something to lean on.
