A community conversation and attention lab led by Eve Mitchell from the Strother School of Radical Attention, exploring the book 'Attensity! A Manifesto of the Attention Liberation Movement'.
Eve Mitchell brings the Attention Liberation Workshop to First Light Books on Monday, August 17. The evening is built around Attensity! A Manifesto of the Attention Liberation Movement, a book by The Friends of Attention that frames our struggling attention not as a personal failing, but as an industry problem—what they call a "regime of human fracking" that requires more than individual willpower to resist. Mitchell, a psychotherapist working in the Hudson Valley and New York City, is a founding member and lead facilitator at the Strother School of Radical Attention (SoRA), a Brooklyn nonprofit dedicated to "Attention Activism." She also writes the column "Free Floating Attention" for Psychology Today.
The night is split into two parts. First, there's a community conversation about the book, and then a SoRA Attention Lab—a hands-on session where you build your own tools and practices for protecting your attention. It's less of a lecture and more of a workshop, so you'll be doing something rather than just listening.
