A family-friendly outdoor art workshop where children and caregivers create leaf art in a calm, creative setting before the heat of the day.
Art in Nature comes to Ponciana Neighborhood Park on Saturday, August 8, from 9 AM to 11 AM. It's part of the Recreation Ambassador series, which returns with a new program each time it rolls around. This one is set in a South Austin green space, designed as a calm, creative start to the day for families and young artists—a chance for kids and their caregivers to make something by hand outdoors before the heat of the day settles in. Everyone walks away with a handmade memory to take home.
On the day, you'll have a choice between two activities: Nature Tales & Leaf Art and Mindful Leaf Doodles. Both work with leaves, so you'll be using what's right there in the park to build your piece. It's aimed at children ages 6 and up, and parents need to stay with them the whole time. The groups meet at the pavilion, and parking is limited, so arriving a little early is a good call.
