A free, one-hour pop-up arts experience for prekindergarten children and their accompanying adult caregiver, featuring sensory, multi-disciplinary, process-based arts activities.
Art in Cahoots is back at the Dougherty Arts Center on Friday, October 16, for another morning of making things with your kid. It's a free, one-hour pop-up arts experience designed for prekindergarten-age children and their accompanying adult caregiver, and the session runs from 10 AM to 11 AM, with doors opening at 9:50 AM.
Each session is built around sensory, multi-disciplinary, process-based arts activities that the pair does together. The focus is on the doing rather than the finished product, and the activities change every month, so if you've been before, you'll find something different this time around. The sessions are led by Austin artists and aimed at children aged 2.5 to 5 years, and your little one needs to be at least 30 months old to take part.
Beyond the art itself, there's a practical side to the format. Working together helps kids build social-emotional skills and get a feel for a classroom setting, all while they're under the wing of a trusted caregiver. It's presented as a way to collaborate creatively with your child and connect with the community through the arts, so you're as much a part of the process as they are.
