35th annual show and sale of original artwork by local artists who have experienced homelessness or housing instability, featuring a silent auction.
Art From the Streets is holding its 35th annual show and sale at Blue Genie Art Bazaar on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18. It's a weekend-long exhibition of original artwork by local artists, and if you've never heard of the organization, it's a good place to start.
Art From the Streets works with Austin artists who have experienced homelessness or housing instability. They provide a safe, encouraging environment for them to create, develop, and sell their work. The organization describes its mission as "create art, create dignity, and create change," and this show is the public side of that: you browse and buy one-of-a-kind original pieces and meet the artists behind them. The artists receive 95% of every sale, so each purchase goes directly back to them as meaningful income and supports their creative journey. There's also a silent auction running alongside the main sale.
