ARCOS presents Creative Resistance at Crashbox starting Friday, September 4, with performances running through September 12. It's a double bill of interdisciplinary dance, and it marks the seventh edition of ARCOS' production mentorship program, which walks Austin-based independent dance artists through the process of self-producing their own work.
The first half comes from Lichen Bouboushian, whose piece Rupture: Sneak sits somewhere between dance, performance art and oral history. Bouboushian navigates a perilous set while tracing their Armenian, Lebanese and American heritage, so the movement is tied to a personal family history. The second half is SalSāl by Venese Alcantar and Omar Mousa, whose title means 'clay that makes sound.' It's a dance film that treats the body as a landscape — malleable, marked by history and in constant transformation. Both pieces lean into interdisciplinary territory, blending dance with other forms rather than keeping it strictly on the floor.

Performances run from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM on September 4, 5, 7, 10, 11 and 12, so there are six nights to choose from across the run. Tickets are on a sliding scale from $10 to $50. You'll find the show at Crashbox, 5305 Bolm Rd #12, Austin, TX 78721.
