Concert by folk and Americana singer-songwriter Amy Annelle, with special guest Lily Dabbs, at the intimate Cactus Cafe venue.
Amy Annelle plays the Cactus Cafe on Saturday, October 3, with special guest Lily Dabbs. Annelle is an Americana songwriter and folk musician from Austin, known as a storyteller whose catalog reflects a modern vision rooted in America's musical legacy. She's been recording and touring for more than two decades, first under the moniker The Places, playing everywhere from art collectives and street corners to New York City's Town Hall and Hollywood's big screen.
Many know her from her rendition of Townes Van Zandt's "Buckskin Stallion Blues," which featured in the Academy Award-winning film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. More recently, she emerged from a long battle with chronic illness to release The Toll, a 12-track record co-produced by Cooper McBean of The Devil Makes Three. She recorded it at her home studio in Austin's Montopolis neighborhood, with guest vocals by Jolie Holland.
The venue is the Cactus Cafe, an intimate listening room on the University of Texas at Austin campus. It's been open since 1979 and has been a regular stop for Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Alison Krauss, and Townes Van Zandt himself. On October 3, Annelle shares the bill with Lily Dabbs.
