Guided tasting of American Icon Spirits with founder Lizzie Mack at Seven Grand.
American Icon Spirits is hosting a guided tasting at Seven Grand Whiskey Bar on Wednesday, July 29, with brand owner Lizzie Mack leading the pours. The tasting is presented by Spirit Society, and it's a chance to walk through the lineup with one of the people who actually puts the bottles together.
If you haven't come across them yet, American Icon Spirits is an independent bottler and blender that builds its premium spirits around some of America's biggest cultural icons—Evel Knievel is one of the names they've worked with. It was founded by Lathan McKay and Lizzie Mack, and the project does a bit more than just bottle spirits: it operates as much as a business consultancy as a spirits company. They offer a rent-a-sommelier service, a spirits-company business accelerator, an Evel Spirits Whiskey Club, and private-label bottlings for other brands.
They also sponsor the Daring Distiller's Competition, which they started in 2024. The inaugural winner was Land Run Distillery in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Between the bottling and the competition, they're pretty active in the industry beyond just what ends up in the glass.

The tasting is at Seven Grand, 405 East 7th Street in Austin, and it kicks off at 5 PM. Tickets are $10, and you'll need to be 21 or older to get in.
