Live dancehall music performance by Alvin Crow at The Broken Spoke, a historic Texas dancehall venue.
Alvin Crow plays a dancehall set at The Broken Spoke on Friday, August 21, with the music starting at 9 PM. It's a single-bill night, so Crow is the only act on the program.
If you've never been, The Broken Spoke is one of those Austin landmarks that still does things the old way. It opened in 1964, started by James M. White, and it's billed as the 'Last of the True Texas Dancehalls.' It's a live music venue that also serves homestyle meals, and its chicken fried steak is the one thing it's most famous for. The dinner and show run Tuesday through Saturday, with the restaurant open from 6 to 8 PM and no cover for the meal service. On Wednesday through Saturday, from 8 to 9 PM, instructor Terri White leads two-step dance lessons, and 'Two-Step Tuesdays' with Weldon Henson kick off at 8:15 PM for a $10 cover.
