Concert by Austin-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Hartley, a piano-driven indie-soul artist.
Alex Hartley plays Easy Tiger Linc on Tuesday, September 22, as part of the HAAM Day Festival. He's an Austin-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose piano-driven indie-soul pulls from jazz harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and a pop sensibility. He's been writing and performing at the piano since he was a boy, and before settling in Austin in 2014, he spent time working as a pianist aboard cruise ships.
Since moving here, Hartley has become a sought-after session and touring keyboardist for artists like Micky and the Motorcars, Jason Hawk Harris, Jon Wolfe and Cast Iron Shoes. He's a Berklee College of Music graduate, and his sound takes in Steely Dan, Vulfpeck and Randy Newman.
This show comes at a particular moment for his own recording career. He put out his debut EP in 2025, and his second EP is due September 25, just three days after this performance. He recorded both with producer Kyle Crusham, who has worked with Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, and with musicians including guitarist Chris McQueen of Snarky Puppy and drummer Jimmy Paxson, who has played with Keith Urban and The Chicks.
