Blues rock concert by Alastair Greene at Armadillo Den in Austin.
Alastair Greene plays Armadillo Den on Thursday, August 20. He's a blues-rock guitarist and singer who's put together a Top 10 Billboard record, and he'll be the sole bill for the night.
Greene has been playing in the Alastair Greene Band for over 25 years, and the sound has drawn comparisons to Gov't Mule, ZZ Top, and Cream. He's spent a good part of his career moving between the rock and blues worlds. On the rock side, he spent eight years on the road with the Alan Parsons Project on guitar and vocals and played major dates with Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas. On the blues side, he's a longtime regular and host at the Memphis-based Blues Foundation events, performances, and showcases, and has been a featured performer at the Big Blues Bender and the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. He's also toured the US with Tab Benoit's band and criss-crossed the globe with Sugaray Rayford's band.
Critics have called him a major talent in the blues-rock category, and they usually point to his tone as the standout—described as impeccably rich and complex. If you're into guitar-driven blues that doesn't shy away from the rock side of the equation, that's exactly where this sits. Between the Billboard charting and the decades of touring, he's a seasoned pro who knows how to hold a stage.
