Alan Haynes headlines a De Nada Backstage with Ernie Durawa session at De Nada on Tuesday, August 25. He'll be backed by the Ernie Durawa band, and the whole thing is open to all ages.
Haynes has been playing since the 1970s, and his sound is a soulful brand of Texas blues that pulls from jazz and country and takes in B.B. King. He joined the Texas Boogie Band in the late 70s, which was the house band at the Texas Opry, and later fronted his own group, Alan Haynes and the Stepchildren. In 1980, he was voted Best Blues Band by the Music City Austin music poll, and he eventually became the house band at Antone's for six years.
It's a deep-rooted Austin blues pedigree on display here, from the early days of the Texas Opry through a long run at Antone's. The night is open to all ages, so it's as much for the folks who've followed him for decades as it is for anyone just getting into the city's blues tradition.
