An introductory tap dance workshop for adults, covering the fundamentals of tap in a supportive environment over four weeks.
Madeleine is leading an Absolute Beginning Tap Dance Workshop at the Dell Jewish Community Center this summer, and it's built for people who have never stepped foot in a dance studio. The sessions run on Fridays from July 23 through August 14, so it's a four-week course that meets once a week. Each class runs from 5:45 to 6:45 PM, an hour that fits right into a Friday evening.
As the name suggests, this is for true beginners. You don't need any prior dance experience to join, and the sessions introduce the fundamentals of tap in a fun, supportive environment. Over the four weeks, you'll pick up basic tap vocabulary, rhythms, coordination, and musicality, building your confidence step-by-step rather than being thrown into the deep end. It's the kind of class where you can start from zero and walk away with a real sense of how tap works.

On the practical side, you're asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring tap shoes if you already have them. The workshop costs $117 for the full four weeks, and JCC members get a 20% discount. A few things to keep in mind before you sign up: enrollment is non-refundable and non-transferable, and there are no make-up classes if you miss a session, so you'll want to make sure your Fridays are clear through mid-August. You can find the Dell Jewish Community Center at 7300 Hart Lane in Austin, TX 78731.
