A four-week adult workshop for absolute beginners to learn hip hop dance, focusing on foundational movements, grooves and rhythm in a supportive environment.
Ballet Austin is running an Absolute Beginning Hip Hop Workshop for adults this summer, a four-week course that kicks off on Thursday, July 23, and runs through August 13. It's held every Thursday at 6:30 PM at their studio on 501 West 3rd Street in downtown Austin. The whole thing is built for absolute beginners, so if you've never stepped foot in a dance class before, this is exactly where you start.
Over the four weeks, the instructors break down the basics of hip hop culture and dance. You'll work through foundational movements, grooves, and rhythm, with a focus on technique, musicality, and building confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment. It's open to all ages, and the classes are set to pop and hip hop music. The instructors frame the practice as a way to improve your energy, lift your mood, and lower stress in much the same way as aerobic exercise, so it's as much about how you feel as what you learn.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
