A six-week beginner ballet workshop for adults taught by Ballet Austin instructors, covering fundamental positions and vocabulary.
Ballet Austin is bringing its Absolute Beginning Ballet Workshop back to the Dell Jewish Community Center this fall, and it's built for adults who have never taken a ballet class. It's taught from the very beginning, so you don't need any prior experience to jump in. By the end of the session, you'll have the fundamental positions, the basic vocabulary, and the core principles of ballet down—all framed as a low-impact way to stay active. It's one of their most popular offerings, and it's open to all adults, with no JCC membership required.
There are five different session times to choose from, so you can pick the one that fits your schedule. Tuesdays run from September 8 to October 12, 7–8 PM. Fridays are September 18 to October 23, 10–11 AM. Sundays are September 27 to November 8, 1:45–2:45 PM, with no class on October 1. Mondays have two options: mornings from September 28 to November 2, 10–11 AM, and evenings from September 28 to November 2, 6–7 PM. Each session is six weeks long, though you can also opt for a shorter four-week version.
Four different instructors lead the classes: Kaitlyn Miller takes Tuesdays, Mia Moi handles Fridays and Monday mornings, Erin Fallis teaches Sundays, and Camille McPherson-Catano takes Monday evenings. You'll need ballet technique shoes, with canvas recommended and leather also fine. A few things to keep in mind before you sign up: enrollment is non-refundable and non-transferable, and make-up classes aren't available.
