99th edition of the kite festival with flying, food, concerts and activities in Zilker Park.
ABC Kite Fest returns to Zilker Park on Saturday, April 10, 2027, from 10 AM to 5 PM. It's the 99th edition of the festival, which is the longest-running kite festival in the country. The Exchange Club of Austin started it back in 1929 as a simple contest to keep kids active, and it grew into a full day of flying and food for all ages. It moved to Zilker Park in 1936 and has stayed there ever since. These days it's supported by ABC Home and Commercial Services and the Friends of the ABC Kite Fest nonprofit, and it usually draws around 50,000 people each spring.
The day opens with the MossFest Children's Concert, which runs from 10 AM to 1 PM. The main event is The Exchange Club Community Kite Contest & Showcase: registration is from 11 AM to 12 PM, and the contest kicks off at 1 PM. If you're not competing, there's a Kids Club with free bounce houses, a kite-making workshop, and a 50-Yard Dash. There's also an off-leash Pet Zone for dogs and a Mini Market featuring women-owned small businesses from around Austin.
