A free, open theology class on Jesus in Islam, with refreshments and lunch provided.
North Austin Muslim Community Center is hosting a free theology class on Jesus in Islam on Saturday, September 5, starting at 11 AM. The session is titled From Virgin Birth to Second Coming, and it's open to anyone interested in hearing how Jesus is understood within the Islamic tradition.
The class aims to explain what roughly two billion Muslims worldwide believe about Jesus, tracing his story from the Virgin birth through to his second coming. It's pitched as a relaxed and friendly session with plenty of time for questions in a respectful setting, and it invites people to get to know their Muslim neighbors and their beliefs about Jesus and Mary. If you've never spent much time thinking about how Jesus fits into Islam, this is a straightforward way to get a sense of it.
One of the best parts is that it's not just a lecture. Complimentary coffee, light refreshments, and a full lunch are provided, so you can stick around after the talk to keep the conversation going. It's as much about the community as it is about the theology.
