Cinnamon Path Theater is bringing a new play-in-progress to the Hyde Park Theatre on Tuesday, August 25, at 7 PM. It's a script-reading of A Few Tiny Acres, a data center farce written by Max Langert. The company is showing it to Austin audiences to gather feedback as the work grows, so you're catching it while it's still being shaped.
The story centers on a single plot of land that brings together three executives, an international diplomat, and a mysterious squatter with a bulldozer. What starts as a routine corporate acquisition spirals into the grand opening of a "data center park," which Langert describes as a fragile, architectural nightmare where danger lurks behind every motherboard. It's a farce, so the comedy comes from that kind of escalating chaos.
On the night, the script will be read by a cast of Austin actors: Kelsey Mazak, Pablo Muñoz-Evers, Eva McQuade, Eliza Renner, Will Douglas, and David DuBose. Because it's a reading rather than a fully staged production, the focus stays on the text and the performances. Cinnamon Path is led by Langert, and they've put on twelve productions to date, including The Lily Problem, Texas Heat Advisory, and Sunday Slugg'rz.
