92nd annual Mediterranean festival with food, music, and marketplace on the grounds of St. Elias Orthodox Church.
St. Elias Orthodox Church hosts the 92nd Annual St. Elias Mediterranean Festival from October 16 to 18, on the church grounds at 408 E. 11th Street, just east of the Texas Capitol. It's one of the city's longest-running traditions, having run since 1934, and it's built around food, music, and a marketplace that brings together flavors and crafts from across the Mediterranean.
The food is the main draw. You can work your way through traditional dishes from Greece, Lebanon, and beyond: gyros, kibbee, falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, and spanakopita, with plenty of baklava to round it out. Alongside the eating, there's dabke line dancing, traditional Mediterranean music, and live performances throughout the weekend. There's also an open-air marketplace with jewelry, artisan goods, henna art, and handcrafted treasures.
