Concert by the soul band 80H Project, led by Ady Hernandez, at The Saxon Pub in Austin.
80H Project plays The Saxon Pub on Thursday, July 23, from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. It's a single-bill night with the band as the only act on the program.
They're an Austin soul band that formed right here in the city, and since then they've expanded their presence to the Nashville music scene. Ady Hernandez leads the group, and the band describes their sound as "just below the radar," a soul act that's been steadily ramping up an original and uncompromisingly soulful sound. Critics have drawn comparisons to some big names: they say Hernandez plays guitar like Carlos Santana and sings like Stevie Wonder.
