Feats of Clay Pottery is starting a new six-week course on Monday, August 24, called Wheel & Handbuilding Basics: Expanded Tool Usage. It runs every Monday from 6 PM to 9 PM through September 28, so you'll be spending three hours a week at the studio for a month and a half. The class is taught by Lily.
The course covers the two main ways of working with clay: the wheel and handbuilding. You'll get into the basics of both, but the real focus here is on tool usage. Instead of just learning a few standard moves, you'll spend time exploring the different tools in the studio and figuring out exactly what they do and how to use them. It's a good way to build a solid foundation if you're just starting out, and it's open to intermediate potters too, so you don't have to be a total beginner to join in.
One of the best parts is that the $380 fee covers everything you'll need: materials, firing fees, and instructions are all included, so you won't be paying extra as you go. If you're looking for something a bit different, Feats of Clay also does private 1:1 lessons and date-night or group-party sessions, and they add new classes every few weeks, so if this particular time doesn't work for you, there's usually something else coming up soon.
