Austin now has seven restaurants with a Michelin star, which puts it ahead of every other city in Texas in the 2026 Michelin Guide Texas. The results were announced on October 8, and the ceremony took place in Houston, while this year's selections were released digitally. No Texas restaurant earned two or three stars this time, so each of the seven Austin spots holds one star. Here's a look at the list, grouped by what's on the plate.

Two of the newcomers and several of the established names cook Japanese-inspired food. Craft Omakase, run by Charlie Wang and Nguyen Nguyen, offers a Japanese tasting menu. Kappo Kappo sits inside the Austin Proper Hotel downtown, with 25 seats around a chef's counter in a room designed by Kelly Wearstler. Its 11 courses follow what the market brings in that day, with A5 wagyu and seafood among the highlights, and the menu isn't published in advance. Brothers Haru and Gohei Kishi, born in Paris to Japanese parents, mix French and Japanese techniques with a Texas touch. Elsewhere on the list, Barley Swine serves contemporary Texas cuisine, and Hestia on West 3rd Street cooks over live wood fire under chef Kevin Fink.
The other first-time starred restaurant is Fabrik, a fully plant-based spot run by chef Je Wallerstein and her husband, Silas. It opened in August 2023 and moved to the Tarrytown Shopping Center at 3108 Windsor Rd. on July 13, 2026. The new room seats 36 people across two seatings, at 5:45 pm and 8:30 pm, and has an open kitchen. The summer menu runs eight courses for $105, and a wine pairing can be added for $65. Ingredients come from local Texas farms, and Michelin gave the restaurant its Mindful Voices honor for sustainability.
The barbecue spots add a different side to the list. InterStellar BBQ, led by chef John Bates, focuses on Central Texas barbecue, while LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue, run by Evan Leroy and Sawyer Lewis, takes a more creative approach to Texas-style smoked meat. Michelin describes one star as "very good" cooking, and inspectors judge ingredient quality, technique, flavor harmony, the chef's personality, and consistency. Since hours and availability can change, it's worth checking each restaurant's website or calling ahead before you head out.
